Matthew Headden (00:00)
Welcome back to the Inner Outer and Above Blueprint with Matthew Headin and today's very special guest, KD Hill. As always, my introduction will not do him justice. I'm going to let him say who he is, but after we pray. Now, KD, I'm going to use your own words. I'll let you explain later where these words came from, but hold my hand and let's pray, brother. Father God in heaven, we come to you, your humble servants.

KD Hill (00:24)
you.

Matthew Headden (00:28)
We pray that we may reflect your light, that you may speak through us, that the words that we speak today are yours, not ours, that we may edify you and that we may serve the kingdom, that we may speak to someone's heart today, that they may remember whose they are and who created them and for whom they belong. Lord, we love you. We praise you. We pray all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.

KD, brother, welcome to the show. Will you give a brief outline? Because everybody needs to listen to this episode. I don't care if it's a man, a woman, a child, please let your children listen to this episode. Ladies and gentlemen, there ain't no custom, you know my show.

Who are you, man? Are you a motivational speaker? Are you a football player? Who are you?

KD Hill (01:20)
What comes to my mind is I'm who God says I am.

Matthew Headden (01:23)
That is one of the most powerful things I have heard in a long time, brother, because it's so true. Who would, if somebody of the world heard the name KD Hill, who would they think of? Would they think of motivational speaker? Would they think of three year starter at Ole Miss? Who would they think of?

KD Hill (01:42)
a man that reflected light back to the one who is light. Each day he lived it with purpose and he had the heart of a lion. And as it says in Proverbs 30, 30, how God wants us to walk like a lion, like a rooster and a he goat, but in Proverbs 30, 30, it talks about the lion how his mighty among many beasts and it runs from nothing. And I said, I had the heart of a lion after my fourth surgery in the hospital.

So that is where KD Heel, the heart of a lion, comes from.

Matthew Headden (02:12)
Come on, bro. Now, I know why you had surgery. I know why you have this light. Anybody listening will know why you have this light because it ain't yours. It's reflecting God's. Just like the moon is reflecting the sun's, you're reflecting the sun too. And it is bright, my brother. What was the accident?

KD Hill (02:29)
Well, I had an accident on July 21st at 4 .48 a Single car crash accident. I was trapped in a truck for five hours. Not once did I shed a tear within those five hours. And within the first three hours, I had two blood transfusions and they called my mom at the three hour mark and said, son has been trapped for three hours. And at that time, after been holding on for three hours, it took six people after me telling them.

I can't hold myself no longer. I can someone lift me up? That's powerful. Can someone lift me up? I'm strong physically and I'm strong mentally. See, not going to know how strong you really are until you've been at the bottom. Until your life isn't what you vision it to be. When you don't have it your way. That's when you will find out how strong you really are. I found out how strong I really was as I was sitting in that truck.

for five hours. And what I'm trying to say is, I don't care how strong you are, there are going to be someone in your life that is going to have to lift you up along your journey. Because it took six total people to lift me up in this truck during this time after been holding on for three hours. But before all of this, the first person to arrive on the scene was the state trooper. And the first thing I said to him was, hold my hand and let's pray.

That's the first thing I said to him after he said, can you reach your arm out the window and tap the mirror three times? And so right then and there, I knew that God had a purpose for me because when I woke up from the impact, I was looking face to face with the tree. If you were to see a picture of the truck and man eyes, you would say there is no way he's here. But God says, not only can you move a mountain, not only can you go over a mountain, but sometimes you have to go through the mountain.

Because when you go through the mountain there will be residue on you. Residue is evidence. My right leg being amputated is evidence that no one but God is the only one that can do the things he's done in my life. So all the glory goes back to him. All the light goes back to him. So if anyone is trying to tell you to dim your light because you make them feel uncomfortable, keep letting your light shine. They just need to put their shades on. Keep letting your light shine.

because you reflect in light back to the one who is light. He deserves all the praise. More of us, more of him, less of us. He gives all the glory because without him we are nothing. But with him, he tells us that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. But you have to wholeheartedly believe that. And I say believe that because belief is more important than knowledge and ability.

See, only lies in the one that believes it is within them. I'm gonna say that again. Greatness only lies in the one that believes it is in them. God created you for a purpose. God created you with greatness inside of you. I say that because God is the Almighty. If we are one with him and he holds the world in his hands, don't we as well? Everything here on earth is already here for us to be fruitful and to multiply in life and to succeed.

You just have to believe. You have to stand on something you don't see, and that's faith. That is why he tells you without faith it is impossible to please God. You have to have faith to do the things that you want to in life.

got off topic and I apologize. It's just, I get the floor, man, and I can't stop,

Matthew Headden (06:05)
Bro, please don't man. This is I'm good man with this thing can go three hours We can make this like a hooverman podcast man, and just I'll let you go man because You said so much there and I'll let them tell I'll let you tell in a little bit why You know what you were doing before the car wreck and what you your life was supposed to be Right because I think that that's a very powerful thing, but you said a lot there that belief believe

KD Hill (06:27)
Yeah.

Matthew Headden (06:33)
You are who God said you are.

And that belief in that faith, but you said something on our mutual friend, Jeff Worcester's podcast.

about action, that faith and belief, but how do we demonstrate that? And that's through action.

KD Hill (06:49)
That's right. Like I say, God will steer the boat, but you must row. You gotta row. There has to be some work put in. You have to work. Your actions is going to show how, the effort you put into that is going to show how much you believe in it. The harder you work towards it shows how much you believe in it coming forth. And I truly believe that for me to be in a position that I'm in today,

Last October, it took me sitting down in my bed watching videos of Les Brown, Myron Gold, and Iki Johnson and telling myself I will be in that position one day. Watching Les Brown fill a Superdome up saying one day that will be me. And I'm not too far from them. I'm not too far from them because last year in October, I saw myself in this position and I dealt with the cards that were handed to me. That's where true greatness lies in.

dealing with the cards that you were handed. Because greatness doesn't come from birthright. It comes from when you get that card, what are you going to do when it's given to you? How can you handle that? That's why I mentioned before, you're not going to know how strong you really are until you hit rock bottom. God does that for a purpose. Because in order to wear the crown, you got to carry the cross. There's going to be pain before the prize.

You're gonna have to go through some things in life to get to the things that you want.

And I've learned that at an early age, pain is a privilege. Adversity is a privilege. Because I'm going tell you this, the reason it's a privilege because if you were on the devil team, he wouldn't mess with you. So that lets you know you on God's team. And the greater your storm, the greater your assignment is. I knew that if my right leg was amputated on the scene and I was trapped in the truck for five hours,

And once I made it to the hospital, and after that first surgery, the first day when my leg was amputated, and I woke up with tears in my eyes and my mom holding a Bible in front of me. And it wasn't because tears that I was scared or I was sad, but it was tears of joy because I knew that God wasn't done with me yet. And I saw that Bible in my mom's hand, I said, mama, I said, feed my spirit. That's the first thing I told her when I made eye contact with her. What I don't understand is,

How can people go a day without feeding their spirit but when they hear their stomach growling they feed their mouth? The devil is attacking you every single day. Every single day you have to equip yourself with the arm of God. And don't think that the devil is not getting smarter because it tells us that the devil is the ancient serpent. The devil, he knows who to strategically attack. He's going to attack the one that is chosen to the bloodline.

Because if he know if he can stop that one, he can stop the whole bloodline from succeeding. So you have to put on that arm of God every single day and know that you are who God says you are. And know that God is who he say he is and understand that God knows the potential that you have inside of you. He just wants you to see it because you were meant to be great. You were meant to leave a light. You were meant to do great things here on earth.

The thing I've learned is in life, the greatest fear is not falling off. The greatest fear in life is living a full life and not taking flight in life. Because when you leave this world, you want people to remember you. You don't want to leave this world and no one knew that you existed. So make sure in life, while you're here, you leave a legacy.

A legacy that will not only be remembered forever, but a legacy that will be remembered from generations to generations.

Matthew Headden (10:48)
man, that is so daggum powerful. You said so many things that we could just dissect forever. But I want to follow up with that too, Like so often people say, the devil will tell you, man, this is too much pressure. This is too much pressure. This is too much pressure. And when you're really connected to the father, you can look at him and smile and say, it's not a pressure, it's a privilege, brother. Now get up away from me.

KD Hill (11:16)
You're right, man.

Matthew Headden (11:16)
Like, and that's what you've done. it, correct me if I'm wrong, man, but you were, you, you were on a path to be making millions and millions of dollars.

And so many people have heard you speak on this. Yes, I've been binge listening to your stuff.

This is the homework I can get behind bro. Like you give me calculus, I'm not here for it. But you give me this. I'm like, right, cool. You didn't lose your identity because your identity was never in football. Now people still may not know who you are unless they've googled you. I know you had one or two accolades, but will you tell people who you were on the field?

And why it's so impactful that you leaned in on him, because a lot of people in your circumstance would have been crushed.

KD Hill (11:55)
Yeah, most definitely. My whole life, I was the type of person that put others before me. And I've learned in order to be the leader that you want to be, you have to put others before you. Have a servant's heart. And the position that I played was an unselfish position. I took on all the double teams as a nose tackle, playing in the three -four defense linebacker, make all the plays. And I enjoyed taking the double teams. I enjoyed it.

because I enjoy seeing my teammates make it. I enjoy seeing them being happy as well because I knew that in order to win the games we wanted to win, it was just more than me. It took a team to do those things. And so as long as I was doing my job, I knew that everything was going to be okay. But for me doing those things and being an unselfish person and being an unselfish leader and pouring into the community, before I was a motivational speaker, I...

I visited Oxford Housing Authority Boys and Girls Club every week, preparing 10 minute speeches every week. And because of that, I was awarded the Chucky Mullers Award, which is the highest award I feel as if in college football as well. up there with the highest, man. I really view an award for a character, on and off the field, leadership, better than any accolade there is in the world. I truly do because that's who I am as a person.

And it was a privilege to wear that number and I wore it with pride because the first thing I said I wanted to do when I first committed to Ole Miss was I was going to wear that number. And it came forth. It wasn't easy. It was hard. But it was worth it. That's what we have to understand. Anything you want in life will not be easy. But I can promise you once you get through the pain, once you get through all the hardships, because at the end of the day, everything is hard. So you choose your hard.

It's hard to be lazy. It's hard to be average. You might as well, there's a cost to everything you want in life. You have the pain of discipline, the pain of regret. You might as well take the pain of discipline because it weighs less than the pain of regret. And so I understood that at a young age, and I didn't think about next week. I didn't think about next month. I didn't think about next year, but I focused on where my foot, my feet was that day.

and I took advantage of the time I had because that is how we miss a lot of our blessing. We're always thinking about what's ahead instead of what blessings we have on our plate now. When God is trying to tell you, you're not going to get your next blessing until you multiply the blessing I have given you, until you use that blessing to the best of your ability. And that is to reflect light back to Him.

Matthew Headden (14:38)
That reminds me of Psalm 119, 105, I believe it is, thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. It's just unto my feet. It doesn't say unto my journey. It does say the path, but we don't get to know the whole thing.

Great, like how powerful is that? And how prophetic was it that your award for the Chucky Mullins, those of you who don't know, KD was a three year starter at Ole Miss. He was an absolute stud. He was gonna make a lot of money in the NFL. And God said, I need you somewhere else. But the Chucky Mullins award is for courage, leadership, perseverance, and determination. And God went, prove it.

KD Hill (15:16)
You

Matthew Headden (15:16)
He said, bet. So I just, I mean, you embodied that we see so often these awards on a field or these awards, you know, like when I was in the military and things, but it's one thing to do it in a place you've trained your whole life. But when we get put into a different pasture in a different field, we don't know how to operate.

KD Hill (15:34)
Yeah, that's right. that's where faith comes in at, You just have to apply those biblical truths to your life and understand those that came before you. Moses, Noah, Abraham, knowing that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What he done for Shacharap, Meshach, and Abednego, he'll do the same for you when you're grown in a body. So once you understand that, you will be content like Paul mentions in Philippians.

Matthew Headden (15:58)
Now mention, you mentioned Philippians 412 and Jeff's. Now I believe you have that jotted down somewhere close to you, don't you? I just thought that was so cool. Why did you put Philippians 412 on your prosthetic brother?

KD Hill (16:06)
of my prosthetic.

because I'm walking in it. I don't just talk. See, many talk, but only so few can walk and talk at the same time.

Matthew Headden (16:24)
Should I just end this show right now? Like, should we just go home?

Like that is so dadgum powerful and I believe it does let it on something we've missed very often in our faith, which is I believe it's the term is walk by faith.

KD Hill (16:37)
Yup.

Matthew Headden (16:38)
not just pray, not sit, not wait, but walk. And to something you said earlier, I'd love to hear you expound on this a little bit more. But through action, you phrased it, you you got the boat, but you got to row. I like to think of it as you can, faith can move mountains, but be prepared to wake up next to a shovel.

And we're not here to do it alone either. You had to have six people hold you up. That's just because you're a gigantic individual. But go into what it means to move by faith and not just trust alone, but to move by faith. What does that mean to you? What has God spoken to you there? I mean, a lot of people were in pain. We're not working out. We're not moving. We say we trust, but we don't move. And that's not that's

I'm not condemning anyone because that's the world that Satan lying to us telling us we can't. But then I see you over here who most people would have said I lost everything and you're in a gym putting me to shame, bro. Like I'm just looking at this dude like, man, should I just go kick in a door? it's like I'm Gerard Butler in 300 after watching this dude workout. what is, so what does walk by faith? What keeps you driven not just to go speak, but to do.

and to work out and do all these things in every area of your life it looks like.

KD Hill (17:54)
There's going to come a day where we all see judgment, right? Either he's going to say, this is all you could have had, or well done my faithful servant. I want to make sure while I'm here that I do everything that God has caused me to do, have called me to do, and I walk into everything that he has called me to walk into. And that's what I think about all the time. That's all I think about. I everything that God has for me.

Because if it is for you, it is for you. And King David shows us that. Moses shows us that. King David was anointed three times before he was the actual king. He was anointed out of eight, the youngest of eight.

And so what God has for you is for you, but you have to wholeheartedly believe that and go to work because he wants to see how bad do you really want it. How bad do you really want it? And that is why I said earlier, many can talk, but only so few can walk and talk at the same time.

Matthew Headden (18:57)
Mm.

KD Hill (18:57)
If you got faith, you gotta put the work in. Because that is why it says faith without works is dead. So in seasons of our lives, you have to know when to plant or when to rest. Because there's gonna be a harvest. A harvest doesn't suck a former. So you better get the plan. Because your harvest is coming. You reap what you sow.

Matthew Headden (18:58)
Now keep going, I'm not gonna stop you. Keep going.

KD Hill (19:26)
And so each and every day I want to make sure I sow those good seeds because I know that harvest is coming. I don't know when, but I know it's coming because I know that he keeps his promises.

Matthew Headden (19:36)
It's interesting when we think about this, there's so much again always always to dissect here, but we think about you know, the King David's and King Solomon and Moses. But then we also think about this because in today's church we do love to talk about like all these blessings. Sometimes what they're talking about with our blessings is that our reward will be in heaven and here we may just get our butt kicked. We miss that like.

that every one of the disciples, I mean, they were beheaded, they were tortured, were, I mean, crucified upside down, these things, and the whole time, they prayed.

They praised and they said, I don't know why you need me to suffer, but I'm here for it. I mean, Jesus was born knowing he would be.

and he still walked up and bet.

KD Hill (20:22)
You just said something that stick out to me. All right. So those that have a hard time with doing their work, he just said it. Jesus paid that price for us. He knew his purpose was to be crucified for all I said. And so you all need to walk like you expensive because Jesus paid a price for you on the cross.

So you gotta know how much you worth right there. You shouldn't need no one else opinion of your worth. You shouldn't need not to be seeking validation from others. When you got the Almighty that has sat there and died on the cross for your sins, He paid the ultimate price. So you should walk like you expensive. Know your worth.

Matthew Headden (21:05)
feel like I need to key in the song by Frankie Valli, walk like a man, talk like a man. But it's so true, man. When we sit there and question our worth, and I did that for much of my life as an alcoholic drug addict, tried to kill himself, put a gun in his mouth, pulled the trigger, and the gun didn't go off. It's because I felt like I wasn't worth anything. It's because I felt like I didn't matter. And I felt like I was a monster, and my actions behaved.

KD Hill (21:10)
Cheers.

Matthew Headden (21:34)
Aligned with that but I was trying to fill god -sized holes with anything but god But when we sit here and I do understand it But the alcohol and the drugs and the women and all of those things they were sourced They were symptoms not sources and the bible does tell us You cannot put old New wine into an old wine skin. It'll burst

KD Hill (21:55)
Yes, yes, that's powerful.

Matthew Headden (21:57)
I you constantly have to be made new. The good news is he will make you new. I think the other thing that you said that really resonated was keep using the word servant. I think people miss this. When you're someone's servant, what you want doesn't matter.

I highly doubt you woke up in September of 2023 and went, you know what, man, I really hope I'm in a horrible car wreck and I lose my leg. But God said, but I need you to.

Can you hear me? Okay.

I just, man, I don't.

KD Hill (22:24)
Yeah. That's powerful because a lot of people don't understand that your testimony is not just for you. It's for others. And people don't understand that they think it's just for them. Why me? No. Try me. God used your testimony for a reason. He used you for a reason. Because no one can do it the way you can do it if you put your mind to it.

Matthew Headden (22:49)
Wasn't that like a late 90s early 2000s R &B hip hop song?

KD Hill (22:51)
I'm not sure, I I said so, just, I'm just flooring, man.

Matthew Headden (22:55)
that's you can do it if you put your okay, nevermind. That's different. Man, it's so true. And when we think about this, man, I'm just unpacking. want to let you go. But when we say like, I'm not good enough, I'm not worth it. I can't do that. You're looking at God saying, okay, so you were wrong.

KD Hill (22:58)
Yes,

And he's double rolled.

Yeah, you're, you're limit.

Matthew Headden (23:15)
I need you to break something else down for me, brother. I need you to break down this piece of identity and operating in who God says you are. I need you to break that down.

KD Hill (23:22)
Most definitely, most definitely when you understand who God says you are view the world the way God views it and know that God is who we say he is, you will be content. But the only way to do that is to surrender and submit yourself to God. Let go and let God. Stop saying that God is the co -pilot and I'm the pilot. God needs to be the pilot.

Jesus needs to be the copilot. You need to just sit in a seat and buckle up and let his will be done and not yours. And his will is not always going to be the way you love. It's not always going to be the way you like it because it's not supposed to be pleasant.

You're going to be put in uncomfortable situations, but that is where you tend to grow. You don't grow when you're comfortable, you only grow when you're uncomfortable. Seeds grow in darkness, olives are crest. I can go on and on.

Matthew Headden (24:22)
It's just thought of something. When you put something in heat, it expands.

When you put something in the cold, shrinks.

KD Hill (24:27)
you

Matthew Headden (24:28)
So what does God say about you? What does God say about me? What does God say about all of our brothers and sisters that are gonna listen to this? Because a lot of people don't know. What does God say about us?

KD Hill (24:37)
Is it still frozen? Can you hear me? Okay. God says that you are victorious. You are more than a conqueror. You are the head and not the tail. You are above and only above and not beneath. And you are lender and not a borrower. Once you wholeheartedly believe that, that is who you will be. That is who you will become. Because who you say you are is who you're going to become.

Matthew Headden (24:41)
Gotcha.

KD Hill (25:05)
And the words you use to describe your experiences in life becomes your life experiences. That is why it tells us that life and death lies in the power of the tongue. have the power to speak life or death into someone's soul with your tongue. So you have to be careful with the words you choose because you can speak life and death into your life. And the more positive thoughts that come to your mind,

you will be positive and you will be successful as well. And understand that those negative thoughts are not of God, that is from the devil who comes to kill, steal, and destroy. And so once you understand that it can be started with the thought, it can also be stopped with the thought. So if it can start with the negative thought, you can stop it with the positive thought.

Matthew Headden (25:52)
And when it's, I'm going to let you go on your own words here. I'm just going to quote you to you here. If you don't mind when something's bad, you say good.

KD Hill (25:59)
Good, because in order to get to the good things in life, you gotta go through the bad things. You have to know how to cherish it. There takes a certain type of character to receive a certain type of blessing. If you wanna move to a new level in your life, there have to be a new you as well. If you want to elevate, you have to get rid of baggage.

Matthew Headden (26:19)
Keep going, man. I'm gonna let you keep going. Just keep going. When something bad happens, what do you say? How do you flip that? How do you flip that? If somebody's struggling and they're just woe is me and it happens, we've all been there. We've all been there for a second or a minute or a year or a decade. If someone's sitting on the couch listening to this or wanting to get up and go for a stroll maybe, and they just feel like the world is against them and they're beaten and everything is bad and going wrong, how would they flip that into good? How could they use that?

KD Hill (26:46)
your perspective, your perspective determines how successful you will be in life. Once you understand that someone always has it worse than you and that that couch you're laying on, someone don't have that couch and that that TV you're watching, someone don't have that TV and that since God woke you up this morning, that means he's not done with you yet. You will show gratitude and I'm talking about immutable gratitude, which means your gratitude and your things never changes. No matter how big or small the blessing is, it remains the same.

You're thankful for just having breath in your body. The same thanks you have given God for having breath in your body will be the same thanks you give him when he give you that house you always wanted. It never changes. It the same.

Matthew Headden (27:28)
Man, you got me fired up. I'm about to go get up and I didn't think things were that bad. It's if I may ask this, like how many people would probably shoot their best friend in the leg for a billion dollars? I mean, I'm not gonna lie to you. would for a billion. You getting shot like I'll fix it. Here's a million, man. I'm sorry. Right. You know what I mean, though? You see the point, right? Now.

KD Hill (27:43)
Thank

Yeah.

Matthew Headden (27:52)
Would you take a billion dollars not to wake up tomorrow?

KD Hill (27:56)
No, no. And some people do that. They gamble with their life. don't understand why do they do those things. I do because they don't know who God says he is, for one. They're not seeking God. Those that know who God says he is understands you don't play with God like that. You don't play with God like that. I would not play with God like that. When he tells you that he has the world in his hand,

He has the world in his hand. He knows our beginning from the end. Before the foundations of this earth, our lives was predestined. He gives us free will, but that is where his grace and mercy comes in that because of the decisions we make, he also aligns and puts us right on purpose where he wants us to be. Jonah and the will, prime example. Anything you want to know about life is in the Bible. If you made a decision in life and feel as if God can't get you back on your path,

go to Jonah and the whale. God wanted him to go speak to Nineveh, if I'm not mistaken. He didn't want to go speak to Nineveh.

Matthew Headden (29:05)
out like my man said peace out and ran and hopped on a boat

KD Hill (29:08)
Jonah was an Israelite, am I correct?

Matthew Headden (29:11)
to my knowledge.

KD Hill (29:12)
Okay, he went to the shipyard, got on the boat. He got on the boat, he was sleep safe to sound.

The ship crew and the captain never seen a storm like this. And they went to the bottom of the boat and they said, who is your guy? My God is father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I don't have to run. He already knows I'm running. You just got to throw me overboard. He threw, they threw Jonah overboard. Jonah was swallowed by a great fish. In order for Jonah to be thrown overboard for him to say that he had to have faith.

He had to know that God had a fist waiting for him in the ocean. God had the fist swallow him, spit him out where he wanted him to be in life. Because of his decisions, God showed grace and mercy on his life and still placed him in a position to go preach to his enemies, to help them out.

So God, grace and mercy will shine on your life. You just have to know that. Confess your sins and you are forgiven. You can talk to God just like I'm talking right now because he's our friend, he's our father, he's everything. He comforts you. There no other comfort like the Lord. He gives you peace while in the storm. He's the only one that can tell the winds and see peace be still in your life.

So stop seeking validation from others. Stop going to others. Go to the one that can stop the win and the seed.

Matthew Headden (30:39)
That's so true. you use that story. love that story for so many reasons because I'm going to keep using this word. I've never used it in a show, but God was like, you want to run, bro? I see you. Like, where are you going? Like I created black holes and earthworms and you think I can't see you on a boat dog. And then it's, but this is the hidden part about this message that I love, right? God, God showed him mercy.

and said, I'm here, I need you here, I need you here, I'm gonna keep doing everything I can to get your attention. There's a piece that's missed very often in this story, I think. When we're disobedient, we don't step into our purpose, other people suffer.

KD Hill (31:22)
Mm.

Matthew Headden (31:22)
Those people on that ship had nothing to do with anything.

They just got caught in the crossfire of Jonah's disobedience.

And when we don't step into our purpose, you alluded to this earlier, it's our children and our grandchildren and our grandchildren's grandchildren that suffer because we were disobedient.

KD Hill (31:42)
That's powerful and that is so true. That is so true. generation of curses. Just because a decision doesn't affect you doesn't mean it won't affect your descendants. That is how generation of curses start. Because someone before you didn't deal with those habits or that theme that was in their life. And so they didn't deal with it. Now you're praying the price for a life that you haven't lived. And now since they didn't deal with it,

it can got stronger because generational curses get stronger each generation that gets passed down.

Matthew Headden (32:15)
And I think this is fun too. I think we could even break that down. We're going a bit off what my notes had, but let's just roll with it. I would say, are those curses or are they generational chains?

because each link, each person you add to a row of chains is going to get heavier.

So a generational chain, like we often look at, let's say type two diabetes, right? in things of that nature as like a generational curse, it's not a curse, it's a chain. Like it doesn't run in the family. It's just nobody runs in the family. So who's going to be the first one to break the chains? And the good news is we have the great chain break.

I mean, how cool is that? Is that you get to be the first one in your family that goes to college. You get to be the first one in your family that puts the bottle down. You get to be the first one in your family that says, I love you, Lord. I accept you into my

You get to be the first one in your family that puts the chips down.

Like there's so many cool things and maybe it's semantics, I don't know. But I think sometimes maybe even a curse can make us feel like we're helpless, but we're not helpless.

We have the key.

KD Hill (33:18)
That's right. have the key to hold our whole lifetime. It's just up to us to know that we have the key. And that is why he gives us free will to get to know him as who he is. Because it tells us, I'm sorry, I apologize. He chooses us. We don't choose him. He's already chosen us before we was in our mother's womb. But he gives us the free will. Do we want to carry that cross?

Matthew Headden (33:31)
What?

No, I apologize,

KD Hill (33:47)
so we can wear that crown.

Matthew Headden (33:48)
How cool is it? It's just got me thinking that every day we get to wear a crown because I think this is messed and my friend David Waldy said it in a previous show.

it

If my -

Why is the King of England the King of England? Because his dad was the king.

Why is Prince Henry a prince?

because his dad was a king.

Well, our Father is the ultimate King, so we're all one.

Don't you think we'd show up a little bit differently if we just remembered like every morning just to wake up and walk like royalty?

And you do that every day, brother. Every day from everything I see, we talk, we message back and forth a couple of times a week. Just, Hey, how you doing? Hey, how can I pray for you? Whatever it is.

Now it's time for this. You and I could do this all day, but I'm going to hit you with something, bro. Two questions. Number one, what's next for KD Hill?

KD Hill (34:33)
What's next for me, this is all I can say, man, and I tell everyone this. I wanna do what God wants me to do. I want to do what is pleasing to Him. When I ask God to grant me the desires of my heart, I say, as long as those desires are pleasing to you. If it's not, I don't want it. So I want your will to be done. So the question, the answer to that is, it's whatever God has next for me to do.

Matthew Headden (35:00)
I love that. Amen, brother. Amen. Now I got to ask this man, because you know, my chosen profession is fitness coach. Bro, what's your workouts? But like, man, y 'all can't 'all can't y 'all can't see this dude. I know you'll follow him. But my man is totally yoked, man. Man, Stop it.

KD Hill (35:10)
Thank

Yeah.

Yeah, I really, work out almost three hours a day, almost three hours a day. It's just something I love while I'm in there. That's where my thoughts begin to just flow. the whole time I have my phone open and I just have my, I have a thing called gyms in my phone where I just put down thoughts. I journalize every single day on, I truly believe in that.

Matthew Headden (35:18)
Stop it.

KD Hill (35:44)
That is how I continue to develop and grow. You don't stay the same. You either get worse or you begin better in life. And that's how I continue to grow in life through those thoughts that God gives me. And I just study those thoughts and it helps my articulation as well. And so I spent almost three hours in the gym today. I had chess and I don't do more, no less than 225 on bench on decline bench on incline.

no less than 225 and I do five sets of 10, five sets to 15, it depends. I work out a lot of reps and sets, heavy weight and it's paying off. I just wish Mr. Matthew come work out with me for a day. I had many people work out with me and say, bro, I can't keep working out with you. I'd have had people just stop working out with me because of the intensity and that's the difference. I just thought about something.

This is gonna hit. All right, there's a difference. If you want to be great, it takes consistency, but it also takes intensity. It's how you do it. Can you apply more pressure to yourself than what others will apply to you? And I just thought about that because to me, that's nothing. But to them, they like, can't handle what he's doing every day. So that's another thing.

People wanna wear your shoes, but they can't walk a mile.

Matthew Headden (37:14)
I'm gonna put my arms down. I don't feel big no more.

KD Hill (37:16)
just thought it all just came to my mind because I didn't think about that until just now but everyone that works out with me Mr. Matthew do not last one workout. They're done. And to me, I do this every day because of this is who I am. Because I walk like a lion, I talk like a lion and I know who God says I am. I that the lamb and the lion and tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Matthew Headden (37:18)
That's so good, bro.

KD Hill (37:44)
The lamb is Jesus, right? And the lion is him as well, right?

Matthew Headden (37:50)
They're both him. They're both him.

KD Hill (37:52)
That's powerful. That's powerful. I love it. I noticed it. I said, wow, I love it. I love it. I love it.

Matthew Headden (38:01)
Yeah, it's the lion stands for Christ resurrected and the lamb for Christ sacrifice. He endured death as a lamb. He devoured it as a lion.

KD Hill (38:05)
Yep. Yep.

I love it. I love it. That's powerful.

Matthew Headden (38:11)
So you said something very interesting. Let's back up, man. I thought we were putting this thing to an end. You made me put my arm down. I was about to flex and I was like, I even like you no more. But it's this, you said they want to walk a mile in your shoes, but they can't walk in your shoes. Number one, what size shoe do you wear?

KD Hill (38:18)
you

a world 14 so they wouldn't be able to fit it in the beginning.

Matthew Headden (38:33)
Sure they would. just might be able to put both feet in there. like, it's also this, people want to say, well, I'm jealous of one part of somebody's life. If you want to be jealous of one part of somebody's life, you've to be jealous of the whole thing. So if you're jealous of this man's physique and this man's speaking career, they need to be jealous of that five hours in the car and losing your leg.

KD Hill (38:55)
Exactly, they don't see a lot of people want your results, but not your pain.

Matthew Headden (39:00)
They want your progress, but not your pain.

KD Hill (39:01)
They want your progress, but not your pain. And they don't understand that. They don't understand what you gotta go through on a daily basis to be who you are. They don't know what KD Hill gotta go through on a daily basis. Every morning I gotta put on the prosthetic. Every day I go through pain with my leg rubbing, but all they see is me pouring into others. They don't see that leg hurting every day.

That's just the honest truth.

Matthew Headden (39:27)
They don't see, they don't hear the screams that I still have waking up in the middle of the night.

They don't hear, they don't see the faces of the people that were buried in my head. They don't see those things. And here's the cool part. This is the cool part. You ready? You ready? We got it. We got it deep. This is the cool part. How cool is it that it is not a comparison to cooperation? We take your pain, my pain, this person's journey, this person's journey. We put it all together for the glory of God because all things work together.

KD Hill (39:44)
Yes sir.

Hmm.

things work together.

Matthew Headden (40:01)
glory of God.

KD Hill (40:02)
That's right.

Matthew Headden (40:02)
and for those who love the Lord. And it's really cool, man. You know, your outlook reminds me of, before I move on, I'm not doing that workout, but I will. Where's your home base? Are you in Florida? Right? Are you in Mississippi? Birmingham? I'll fly. I'll do a workout with you. I'll fly. I'll make it work, bro. I'll make it work. might.

KD Hill (40:15)
Birmingham, Birmingham.

Most definitely, we have to.

Matthew Headden (40:26)
I might need to call up my friend Ali Gilbert and get on some like heavy dose of TRT first, but whatever, know, like shout out to Ali, but, you remind me of something, the way you treat people. And it's, it's a quote from my favorite author, besides the Bible and it's CS Lewis. and he says this and you talked about reflecting the light and the way you treat people. reminds me of this quote from CS Lewis. Forgive me if I get part of it wrong, but

KD Hill (40:33)
Thank

Matthew Headden (40:50)
There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations, these are mortal. And their life to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals with whom we joke, we work, we marry, we snub, and we exploit. Immortal horrors are everlasting splendors. This does not mean that we are perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of that kind. It is, in fact, the merriest kind.

which exists between people who have from the outset taken each other seriously, no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption. And I just, that really gets me because when we start to view everybody as an immortal.

because they are going to live forever and our actions may determine where they spend it. You just that quote just really resonated in my head just listening to you speak and I hope you take that as a compliment.

KD Hill (41:45)
It's blessing. All glory goes to God. I love to reflect light back to him. people try to acknowledge me for things, I say it's all God because without him, I wouldn't be here. Everything that I have, the wisdom that he has given me, which is divine wisdom, it all has come from him. And so I like to give him all the glory for everything. So all praise to the Most High.

and that's how we should live our life. That's why in my bio, on my Instagram, it says in everything I do, I will glorify God. When I lift those weights, I'm glorifying God.

Matthew Headden (42:26)
So.

Here's my final question and I end every one of these with this. It's gonna be a fun one. You ready?

If you were gone tomorrow, and I pray you're not, if you were gone tomorrow, if the Lord saw fit to call you home tomorrow, and your Instagram was gone, your bio was gone, your LinkedIn was gone, everything was gone, and the only thing that KD Hill left on this planet for the future generations was one piece of advice.

What would that advice be?

KD Hill (42:52)
adversity is God's university.

Matthew Headden (42:55)
The streetlights just came on. I gotta go home.

KD Hill (42:58)
Thank

Matthew Headden (42:59)
Where can they find you?

KD Hill (43:00)
You can go to my Instagram at grind, G -R -I -N -D -K -D underscore 55. That's my Twitter handle. TikTok is the same and my Facebook is KD Hill. And my LinkedIn is KD Hill as well.

Matthew Headden (43:17)
Brother, if anybody wants to book you to speak, who are you looking to speak to?

KD Hill (43:21)
I'm able to speak to any audience there is. Corporate, I would love to go to prisons and speak. Churches, schools, teams, I can speak anywhere. All I need is a mic.

Matthew Headden (43:32)
I don't know how I made it through this whole thing without tearing up. I think it's because I cried like three times listening to your stuff before this. KD, I love you, man. I truly do. Thank you for blessing me, anybody that's gonna listen in the future in this world with your presence and mostly your obedience.

KD Hill (43:49)
That's powerful. Can you be in the right position when God calls on you?

Matthew Headden (43:54)
That's a great question and I want everybody to ponder and once you ponder that, leave your answer in the comments. I think that'd be a fun one. KD and I would love to see that. We'll respond. You message him, you message me, we will respond. I promise. Everyone, thank you for listening to another episode of the In -or -Outer -and -Above Blueprint with Matthew Headin and today's special guest, KD Hill. Please be sure to do all the things I'm supposed to tell you to do right now, like like, comment, share with your grandmama. Do all those things.

But we pray most of all that we were able to inspire you to move in faith a little bit more today. We love everyone.
